Fake Loading Screen

What it shows

A dark screen with a thin ring in the middle, a lighter arc turning slowly around it, and the word "Loading…" underneath. It never finishes, and it never says what it is loading, which is the joke. It carries no brand and no logo, so it looks at home on any computer, tablet or phone. The arc takes about two seconds to go round, slowly enough to look patient rather than urgent. If your system asks for reduced motion, the ring is shown still with the arc held in place, and Start offers to play the motion for this visit only.

It also makes a handy prop: a screen in the background of a video that is plainly busy, without advertising anything. Press Go Fullscreen to fill the screen with it and set it turning, or Start to watch it here first. Nothing moves until you do.

Leaving it

Press Esc, click, or tap anywhere, and it closes, exactly as every full-screen tool on this site does. On a phone that cannot go full screen, the picture covers the browser window instead and an Exit button stays in the corner. Nothing here tries to stop anyone leaving: no locked keys, no warning when the tab is closed, and the Back button works as usual.

Keep screen awake starts switched on, because a loading screen that dims after a minute gives the game away. It only asks your browser while the picture is running, lets go when you stop, close it, hide the tab or leave, and the status line says whether your browser agreed.

A picture, not a program

Nothing is installed, downloaded or changed, and nothing is really loading. The device keeps running normally underneath the picture, and any open work is untouched. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere.
