Scrolling Text Display

What it does

Type a message of up to 140 characters and it appears in large light letters on a dark screen. Choose Scroll to have it move across the screen like a sign, or Still to show it centered and as large as it fits. Press Go Fullscreen to fill the screen; in Scroll, Start sets it moving, and you can edit the message while it runs.

Where it is useful

• At an event — a welcome, a room name, a Wi-Fi password on a spare screen by the door.
• On a desk — "On a call", "Back in 10 minutes", or a name at a stall.
• In a shop window — opening hours or today's offer on an old monitor or tablet.

Your message stays here

The message is typed into this page and drawn by this page, and that is all. It is not saved — reload or close the tab and it is gone — and it is not sent anywhere: there is no server behind the box and no record of what you typed. That also means it will not be there tomorrow, so keep anything you want to reuse somewhere of your own.

Easy to read, and never a flash

Scrolling runs at an unhurried pace, a couple of letters a second, slow enough to read a line as it passes. The text slides in from beyond the right edge and out beyond the left, and it starts moving from exactly where it stands, so nothing jumps. If your system asks for reduced motion, the page starts on Still instead. For the time rather than a message, there is the Fullscreen Clock; for a countdown to something, the Countdown Timer.
